But if the stain is already dry do not fear! If the glass cleaner is stubborn, you could use rubbing alcohol (or vinegar) to remove it completely. Spritz a small amount onto an unclean wool fleece and use to the tarnish. Just always test it in a small, unseen spot to make sure that if it come off by accident then thank god its right there.

To prevent stains in the first place, there are a few simple measures you can take. Protect furniture and floors with drop cloths or plastic sheeting before you start painting. This will make sure that they do not get paint on them. If you are going to tape down the edges of things like baseboards, window frames etc., a thin painters' tape is also an option.
